hey guys just a few pics of a great ride i had today. excuse my headgear...

loaded up the LJC (little Jap car) and headed off into the winter woods

woods in the winter are simply wonderful. Total silence, just the occasional creak from the trees. No wind, so it didn't feel cold really especially whilst riding.

the fog then closed in, only adding to the atmosphere.such a great ride...

of course, a cup of tea when we got back to the car...

...and a sausage roll pleasantly heated on the exhaust of the car. Excellent

then home to sit on the sofa and drink tea. what all sundays should be like.

Reminds me of a ride on the Ridgeway near Swindon a few years ago... It wasn't *that* cold, but I could ride across the puddles. Not had my Mountain Bike this winter, but seeing this post has made me think about it

p.s. +1 for the genius sausage roll heating method

  1. Sensible use of a hatchback to carry bikes secure from theft and salt spray... great use of the engine to warm food.... fearless in snow.... silly hat.... Congratulations, you're my kind of biker! When can I hook up with you?

(I rode 60 miles from Blackburn to Windermere in the drizzle yesterday - grim, it was.)

Not going riding with him, you only get half a cup of tea (or spotty beaker )! ^_^

can't remember where they came from; army surplus store i think. i've had 'em ages. i think they appeal to my retro side, when mtbing was still a left-field, extreme sport. don't get me wrong, the growing popularity of mtbing is only a good thing, but i remember when i was the only kid in a school of 1300 who did proper mountain biking (i.e. regularly smashed parts and a couple frames) and before internet forums where i could meet like minded mtb nutters like yourselves! i must admit, i was never really one for sports that had representation at the Olympics, but thats just a personal thing...

i guess they probably look a bit bizarre to some people, but hey! thats just me!

get a pair, fran! make a bit of a statement on the trails. army surplus, cheap market stalls, they ain't expensive (unlike some bike gear) so if they get mashed up on the trails, it's no biggie

I too, don't play well with others. That's why me and Mountain Biking go well together. And I like combats too..
