I'm starting a new thread for the sake of clarity, so see http://www.cyclechat...iles-in-6-days/ for a bit of back story. What I'm doing is not an actual LEJOG, but a 600 miles in 6 days challenge: I'm taking on the Dartmoor Classic 106 mile route on 24/06/2012, followed by the Northern Rock Cyclone 104 mile route on 30/06/2012. I'm planning on using four of the five days inbetween to cycle from one to the other (well, from Exeter to Newcastle, anyway), which would follow an Eastern LEJOG route pretty much.

I was hoping that some of you might have a look at the following routes to see if they're going to be suitable. I'm going to be riding supported, so no massive weight to carry and so I'm hoping for a decent balance of safety and speed. If any of the following jump out as being particularly bad route choices, then I'd really appreciate your advice on where to go.

    Day 1 - Exeter to Malmesbury (114 miles): http://g.co/maps/c6dx5
    Day 2 - Malmesbury to Leicester (105 miles): http://goo.gl/9x15M
    Day 3 - Leicester to York (119 miles): http://g.co/maps/jfqcp
    Day 4 - York to Newcastle (88 miles): http://g.co/maps/rmc4v

I may yet end up shortening Day 1 to end at Chippenham. My employer's HQ is based there and as I'm planning on doing this for charity then I may well end up swinging by to try and raise a bit more money/support. Day 5 will be a gentle spin/rest day.

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Depending upon how fast you are / how early you start, when you get to Selby you might find that the A19 is sufficiently clear to traffic to be worth using. I cycled from Leicester (well, just south-west of) to York in 2007 and as it was after 11PM when I got to Selby I just went up the A19 and hardly saw any traffic at all.

As it is not a LEJOG, and few LEJOGers pass through the places in your itinerary, you are likely to get a better response posting in Tour & Expedition, but not in the LEJOG subsection.
