    Hi
I have recently started cycling to work and in the last week both of my bankcards have stopped working. My wallet is in my pocket when I ride. Coincidence or are they being affected by the (fairly constant, still a bit unfit) movement of the peddling? Anybody else suffered this or is it just me ?

Always carry wallet with cards in my pocket never had a prob, although the cash machine did swallow it for no reason.

Think it's a coincidence to be honest. I've never had anything go AWOL on me (Apart from my wireless computer and that was the front light making it read wrong).

You are riding too fast. The earth has a magnetic field, and if you cross it too quickly, the change in flux re-magnetises the brown strip on the back.

    SLOW DOWN!!

    ;)

Have you had them near any magnets or even mobile phones? That can screw them up.

That was Mythbusted too  They had them tied to large electromagnets of varying strengths, none of the affected the bank card at all.

You probably used it in the same POS terminal which was faulty.

Thats strange, my bank card is in my pocket for most rides, and has been for very many years, I've yet to have any problems with them.

Check your bank accounts, your missus might have emptied them.

Done 100' of miles with my debit card and mobile (and emergency fiver) all cling wrapped together and the card still works every time!

Gotta be the speed thing creating your own magnetic field

It's not cycling that messes up bankcards, it's buying bikes. I blame the banks.

First of all its most probably the Governments fault, failing that it could be down to a cloaked alien ship presence in the area you pass through that is giving out massive radiation, failing that it could be that in fact your very poor and you dont have any money, lastly are you sure they are bank cards and not a library pass and a blockbuster card.
If none of the above most common reasons then you have a real weird problem and better call the bank.

I've never damaged my cards but the sweat from back has rogered my mobile phone. I now put cards and phone in a little plastic pouch
