Well that was a turn up for the books. Waiting in turn to go round a mini roundabout (Edgeley Road near Morrisons Cheadle Heath for locals), a MR2 edges up by the side of me (plenty of room). Me thinks - here we go...... Friendly pharp pharp on the horn. I turn to look, and the guy has his window down, leans across and shouts..... "MAGICSHINE !" I say "Yeh, bright aren't they", he responds, "FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC" with a big grin and gives some thumbs. Traffic now clears, I cross roundabout and he follows - he passes a little further on, and a notice a bike rack on the back of the little MR2 ! Yey !
Excellent Reminds me of the time when I was locking my bike up outside the shops, on the way back from work. Car driver gets out of his car and runs over to me.... I had the same thought: Here we go... But no, he came over to thank me for being lit up like a christmas tree
and if we all had CC stickers on our cars/bikes we'd know the cycle friendly folk at a glance even without bike racks http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/cyclechat-stickers-would-you.95244/page-3#post-1733382
I once had a taxi driver start trying to talk to me at a red light, thought the worst obviously, but no, he was just really interested in the butterfly handlebars on my German hybrid!
I've had a taxi driver wind down his window and thank me for having lights and high-vis. (I have a suspicion that's he'd had a run-in with a less-visible cyclist, just from the way he said it.)
